Laundromats in Chicago, IL: Google Visibility Snapshot (2026)

Published July 2026

What the 150 Chicago laundry listings we analyzed show about websites, reviews, and ratings — a city-level slice of SitePeek's 2026 study, with the sample caveats stated plainly.

Of the 150 laundromats in Chicago, IL we analyzed in 2026, 66.0% had no website on their Google Business Profile, the median listing had 30 Google reviews, 10.7% had fewer than 10 reviews, and the mean rating was 4.29 stars. These are sample statistics from SitePeek's Google Places discovery pipeline — full methodology — not a census of the market.

What does the Chicago laundry sample show?

Between May and July 2026, SitePeek's business-discovery pipeline — built on the Google Places API — returned 150 listings for laundromats in Chicago, Illinois. We analyzed each listing's website link, review count, and star rating, and compared the results against the 4,604-listing national sample from our 2026 Local Business Google Visibility Report. One caveat before the table: this is the sample our pipeline discovered, not a roster of every laundromat operating in Chicago. Read each number as a competitive read on the analyzed field, never as a universal market share.

Both columns describe analyzed samples — the 150 Chicago listings our pipeline discovered and the 4,604 listings in the national study — not every business in either market.

What this means if you run a laundromat in Chicago

Websites are the standout gap here. 66.0% of the 150 Chicago laundromats we analyzed had no website linked from their Google Business Profile — more than half the sample, and a larger share than the 43.7% we measured across all 4,604 businesses in the national study. Read that as a competitive angle, not a census: among the listings we analyzed, a fast site linked from the profile is still a genuine differentiator in this field, not table stakes.

The median listing in this sample had 30 Google reviews (the median across our full national study was 45), and 10.7% of the analyzed listings had fewer than 10 reviews (nationally: 21.0%). That puts this sample near, but under, the national norm: enough reviews in the field that an empty profile reads as a risk, few enough that a steady ask-after-every-job habit can move a business up the visible pecking order within a season.

Ratings gave this sample more spread than most: the mean across the 150 analyzed listings was 4.29 stars, below the 4.6-star mean in our national study. In most categories a strong star average is table stakes; among the listings we analyzed here, scores actually vary — so a profile that keeps its rating strong, resolves complaints, and visibly answers reviews separates itself in a way it could not in a field where every score clusters at the top.

Two habits move every number in the table above, in any market: give Google a website link so the profile has somewhere to send people, and ask for a review after every completed job. Neither costs money — and among the listings we analyzed, both remain unevenly adopted enough to be an edge.

How the Chicago laundry sample compares to our other data

Among the 12 Chicago categories we analyzed, review depth swings hard — from a median of 11 for handymen up to 146 for nail salons. The laundry sample's median of 30 is best read against its own field, not the city overall: a count that looks thin next to one category can lead another outright.

Methodology — what this sample is and is not.
  • Source: SitePeek's business-discovery pipeline, which enumerates local service businesses through the Google Places API by service category and city. Data collected May–July 2026.
  • Sample, not census: the 150 listings here are the laundromats our pipeline discovered for Chicago, Illinois — not every laundromat in the city. Every figure on this page means "of the listings we analyzed," never a universal share of the Chicago market.
  • Parent study: this snapshot is a city-level slice of the SitePeek 2026 Local Business Google Visibility Report (4,604 listings across 325 cities), which documents the full method and its limits.
  • "No website" means no website URL was present on the business's Google Business Profile at discovery time. A business may own a site that is not linked from its listing.
